There is something quite unique and precious when you take part in the process of making something ordinary into extraordinary.

My wonderful circle of friends and I have decided to craft or cook something new every week. On our first Crafty Monday, we painted mugs. It's quite simple. All you need are:

• 1 mug
• paint for ceramics (non-toxic)
• paintbrushes
• stencils (if you'd like)
• masking tape (for clean lines/stencils)
• alcohol

Clean the mug with alcohol, then apply the paint on the mug. Be free and creative as you'd like, the possibilities are endless. Be sure that the paint has dried. Then prepare your oven to 350º F and once ready, place your mug in for 30 minutes. Remove the mug and let cool. Voila! You now have a brand new (and lovely) cup for all your wonderful coffee or tea times.

a celebration.

This is how I spent my 22nd celebration of life and it was probably the loveliest one yet. I was surrounded by beautiful souls who inspire me every day and who make my life what it is today, and there is nothing in the world that could replace that.

There is something about community that brings me to awe. To know that relationship is what we were intended for and what each of us longs for, I realize none of us are alone. As cliché as this may be, we are all in this together - learning to be and breathe and love.

I had small cards for each person to write a little message to me, one of encouragement for the new year, and I in return had personalized thank you cards prepared for each friend there. I wanted to give back and honor the people who take part in my life every day, and let them know I am celebrating them, too.

A special thank you to Gabriela for making the wonderful decorations, to Emily for the flowers, to  Raymond for taking all the lovely polaroids, and to Phil for coming all the way from Montreal to take part in this day and for creating this absolute beautiful video. Thank you so dearly.

Spent the day in Oakville with a wonderful friend a few days ago. This is a city of wonderful treasures, with a downtown by the lake and boutiques and tall trees and flowers. We visited a store, had iced drinks, and bought lavender. And once by the lake, all is good with the world. I call this my ocean, and the seagulls do seem to agree.

And being able to work here a few times a week is always a treat.

It's lovely, really.

My name is Melody, I've just turned 22 , and I am learning to breathe in the most wonderful and humanly way possible.

...I've given my blog a new look to refresh it and begin a new chapter of posts and pictures. There is much to be shared, and wonderful stories to tell you.
I want to document it all so that years later I can read back and fall in amazement all over again at how everything came together in perfect timing and how the greatest Love of them all was by my side the whole way through, and even during the seasons of brokenness I'll know that redemption is still real and true and possible.

2012 has truly been blowing my mind away.

It is overwhelming. It is beautiful.

The past few months have been different. I'm living new days of inspiration where I'm learning to create what I love and embracing the person that I am, all while encountering wonderful new people who are quickly becoming the most inspiring people I have ever met.

I live for this kind of community - one of vision and beautiful ideas and creativity and life.

I'm very excited for what is to come...
